Law departments are experiencing the tightest labor market in memory, and I have an observational theory on why.

The entry level positions at many law departments require three to seven years of experience.  This is the first and primary train stop for highly prized corporate Associates from name brand law firms.  In fact, it’s about the only level at which law departments feel good about hiring attorneys without in-house experience.
