As Law.com International's Varsha Patel reported this week, in-house counsel in the U.K. have sounded the alarm about what is known as "banana performance"—when a law firm showers a potential client with attention in order to gain a coveted spot on the client's outside counsel panel and then proceeds to underperform thereafter.
