Lawsuits filed against companies by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission climbed in the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, compared with a year earlier, but haven't returned to pre-pandemic levels, a study released by the Chicago-based law firm Seyfarth Shaw found.
The EEOC filed 114 cases in fiscal 2021, up from 101 in the prior year but shy of the 149 filed in fiscal 2019. The EEOC files the bulk of its cases in the final month of its fiscal year. Last month it filed 59.
