A federal judge has sentenced Bruce Matson, the former chief legal officer of now-defunct Virginia law firm LeClairRyan, to 44 months in prison for obstructing a federal probe into his misconduct as a bankruptcy trustee.

Matson, who pleaded guilty to the charge in July and agreed to disbarment last year, will also have to pay a $10,000 fine, according to an order by U.S. District Senior Judge John Gibney Jr. of the Eastern District of Virginia.

Matson's lawyers, Brandon Santos and Richard Cullen of McGuireWoods, and Danny Onorato of Schertler Onorato Mead and Sears, did not respond to requests for comment.
