Philadelphia sports fans and legal and business leaders in the city and elsewhere are mourning the loss of Phil Weinberg, longtime legal chief of Comcast Spectacor, parent company of the NHL’s Flyers and their home arena, Wells Fargo Center.

Weinberg, 66, died unexpectedly Wednesday while recovering from hernia surgery and fighting bladder cancer, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia. The regional sports network described Weinberg as “one of the most influential people in the Flyers’ organization over the last 30-plus years.”
