Major businesses representing a broad range of industries, from Apple Inc., American Express Co. and Google to the National Football League and Uber Technologies Inc., have thrown their weight behind a push to formally certify the Equal Rights Amendment. 

Legal chiefs for many of the prominent companies that joined an amicus brief backing ERA certification are “intimately involved” in the effort, according to employment litigation partner Liza Velazquez at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York. The firm represents a majority of the participating companies.
