As far as labels with the potential to offend go, “in-house counsel” seems relatively innocuous. But not all … er … corporate counsel feel that way. 

Coinbase legal chief Paul Grewal stirred the semantics pot with a recent LinkedIn post in which he asked, “Why does the phrase ‘in-house counsel’ rankle me so much? I can’t say exactly the reason but the feeling is real.”
