Indiana University has tapped alumnus and Barnes & Thornburg partner Anthony Prather, a seasoned labor and employment litigator, to serve as vice president and chief legal counsel following the ouster of the school’s former top lawyer.

Prather will succeed ex-general counsel Jacqueline Simmons on Feb. 22, pending approval from IU’s board of trustees. IU was poised to fire Simmons, but later agreed to let her retire as part of a $175,000 separation agreement. She had served as the school’s GC for nearly nine years.
