'A Tale of Two Cities': Study Finds Legal Ops Teams Have Vastly Different Levels of Expertise

Legal operations professionals want to add value beyond the legal department and thus are becoming more involved in cross-functional tasks that benefit the overall business, according to the Blickstein Group's newly released Law Department Operations Survey.
The survey, conducted annually since 2008, found that the number of respondents who said they are "very frequently" involved in enterprise-wide strategic initiatives increased from 17% in 2020 to 22% in 2021.
Areas where legal ops is having a sweeping impact is in contracts, where ops teams are shortening the gap between when a contract is signed and when revenue begins to flow to the business, the study found.
