An ex-Big Law attorney who most recently served as a deputy general counsel at the University of Kentucky is taking over as top lawyer for the University of Virginia in the wake of the former legal chief’s ouster. 

Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares has appointed Cliff Iler as senior assistant attorney general and UVA university counsel. Miyares, in a controversial move, fired Iler’s predecessor, Tim Heaphy, after taking office in January.
