After nearly two decades as an in-house leader at big bank legal departments, Susan Steinthal is settling into a new role as the fully remote chief legal officer for rapidly growing credit card and fintech firm Mercury Financial. 

The Austin, Texas-based company leverages data analytics and risk assessment technology to offer credit cards to “near-prime borrowers,” who have credit scores that place them between subprime and prime borrowers.
