Companies are looking to their legal departments to lead environmental, social and governance strategies, but many businesses don’t want their in-house lawyers speaking publicly about social issues, such as racial justice and human rights. 

That’s according to a new report from Corporate Counsel and Morrison Foerster based on a survey of 79 in-house lawyers, 90% of whom reported that their legal departments were steering their companies’ ESG initiatives.
