Nearly all of the in-house lawyers who took part in a new survey said their legal departments were steering their companies' ESG initiatives, but more than half said they weren't allowed to speak on social issues.

Companies are looking to their legal departments to lead environmental, social and governance strategies, but many businesses don't want their in-house lawyers speaking publicly about social issues, such as racial justice and human rights.
That's according to a new report from Corporate Counsel and Morrison Foerster based on a survey of 79 in-house lawyers, 90% of whom reported that their legal departments were steering their companies' ESG initiatives.

The suit, accusing the defendant of selling knock-off Graco products, was filed Dec. 18 in New Jersey District Court by Rivkin Radler on behalf of Graco Inc. and Graco Minnesota.
