New York Life Insurance Co.’s general counsel is leaving the nation’s largest mutual life insurance company for a new legal chief job at Principal Financial Group.

Natalie Lamarque is slated to take up the reins of the global financial firm’s legal department on Aug. 1, according to a Wednesday announcement. She succeeds Mark Lagomarcino, who is retiring after 20 years at the Des Moines, Iowa-based company.
