Participation in pro bono work by in-house lawyers has fallen, according to a new survey of legal departments in the U.S. and a handful based in England, Ireland and the Netherlands.

Announced last week by Corporate Pro Bono, a project of the Washington, D.C.-based Pro Bono Institute, the survey polled 47 legal departments that had pledged to encourage 50% of their employees—including attorneys and legal staff—to do pro bono work.
