Greenville, South Carolina-based Current—formed through the merger of GE Current and Hubbell Inc.'s commercial and industrial lighting business early this year—has hired Scott Fokens as vice president and general counsel.

Fokens brings more than 25 years of experience in legal, patent and intellectual property to the role. He most recently was head of legal and assistant corporate secretary at Cleveland-based GOJO Industries, the maker of Purell. He spent seven years at the company, the last four in that role.

Prior to joining GOJO, Fokens held legal roles with Columbus, Ohio-based Owens Corning and the Lubrizol Corp.

GE Current acquired Hubbell's commercial and industrial lighting business for $350 million in a deal that closed in February. The publication Inside Lighting estimated GE Current's revenue before the deal at $630 million. Hubbell's commercial and industrial lighting business had revenue of $515 million.
