Plano, Texas-based Aimbridge Hospitality, the world's largest third-party hotel management company, has tapped industry veteran Mark Chloupek as chief legal officer.

Chloupek succeeds Greg Moundas, who stepped down this month after nearly a decade as legal chief. He did not immediately respond to a LinkedIn message seeking comment.

Chloupek brings 23 years of experience in hospitality. He most recently was executive vice president, secretary and general counsel of CorePoint Lodging, which owns hundreds of La Quinta hotel properties.

Before CorePoint, Chloupek was executive vice president, secretary and general counsel of La Quinta, which separated its real estate from its lodging operations by spinning off CorePoint in a 2018 initial public offering.

Earlier in his career, Chloupek was chief counsel of operations for Wyndham International, where he helped guide the sale of the business to affiliates of The Blackstone Group in 2005.

Rather than owning hotels, Aimbridge solely manages them. It has agreements with hotel owners in 50 states and 23 countries to manage more than 1,500 hotels. The private equity-owned company swelled in size in 2019 by buying Interstate Hotels & Resorts, which managed nearly 500 hotels.
