SkyShowtime, a new subscription streaming service that’s a joint venture between Comcast and ViacomCBS, has hired a Walt Disney Co. executive to lead its legal department.

John Heinemann will begin as general counsel in September. He currently is Disney’s associate principal counsel for the Nordics, Baltics and the Middle East and North Africa.

Heinemann has been at Disney nearly five years. Among his roles was negotiating multi-year agreements around the world for the Disney+ streaming service, which launched in 2019. Before Disney, he worked for Fox and the BBC.
