Major retailers operating in Illinois, including Walmart and Best Buy, are facing a barrage of lawsuits alleging violations under one of the country’s strictest biometrics privacy laws.

Five such suits were filed by plaintiffs just last week, far beyond the average this year of less than one per week, according to Law.com Radar Trend Detection. Most name as plaintiffs Adrian Coss and Maribel Ocampo and seek class action status.
