Amanda McGrady Morrison, incoming chief legal officer of Advent International.

Boston-based Advent International, a private equity giant with more than $100 billion in assets under management, has appointed Ropes & Gray partner Amanda McGrady Morrison as chief legal officer.

Morrison joins Advent with more than two decades of legal experience, most recently at Ropes & Gray, where she led the firm's global private equity transactions group.

Morrison, who's done legal work for Advent, is joining Advent as managing director and will succeed chief legal officer James Westra after he retires at the end of 2022 following 11 years in the role.

"I'm thrilled to join Advent and support its mission of building great businesses," Morrison said in a statement.

"From my work alongside [Westra] and the Advent leadership team, I have seen firsthand how they lead with vision, passion and collegiality in all they do. I look forward to contributing to the firm's continued success."

Advent launched in 1984 and has made nearly 400 investments across 41 countries. It has 450 employees spread across 15 offices in 12 countries.
