Renada Williams, associate general counsel for The Vitamin Shoppe, knows firsthand how easy it is to slip into burnout behavior.

When she joined the company in 2020 amid the pandemic, she was so anxious about getting off to a fast start that she was glued to her computer screen all day.

"I was so worried about getting to know everyone, catching up and learning the business, that there were days where I didn't even eat. I would just be at the computer and have my coffee," she said.

She soon realized she was on a dangerous path.

"As I started to create that foundation, I started to create some really healthy boundaries because I realized if I'm burning out, I'm not good for anyone," she said.

Williams was one of the panelists in a session at this week's General Counsel Conference East titled "The Great Reflection: Burnout & The Growing Demands on In-House Counsel."
