Elon Musk completed his $44 billion purchase of Twitter on Thursday and immediately cleaned house, firing senior executives, including Chief Legal Officer Vijaya Gadde, whom he had criticized for censoring content on the social media site.

The deal’s closing brought to an end months of drama. After Musk agreed to buy the San Francisco-based company in April, he tried to get out of the deal. After Twitter sued to force him to close, he reversed course and said he would buy the company after all.
