Twitter’s approximately 140-person legal department appears to have been spared the gutting that some parts of the social media company suffered, but the full extent of the layoffs instigated late last week by the company’s new owner, Elon Musk, may not become clear for days.

Just four of the 57 Twitter attorneys licensed in California had gone on LinkedIn by Saturday to say they were among the roughly half of the San Francisco-based company’s 7,500-person workforce to receive pink slips. The company also has attorneys elsewhere in the United States, including New York and overseas.
