When Rubrik greeted 2021 with just eight lawyers to support its sales team and support functions, executives of the data-management company knew something needed to change. Rubrik's decision to launch a self-service legal portal perfectly illustrates why its legal team is on the cutting edge of in-house tech implementation.
"I fully supported and prioritized automation initiatives because it meant … automating the more administrative tasks to free up the team to do higher-level, more interesting work and driving higher job satisfaction," said Peter McGoff, chief legal officer of the Palo Alto, California-based company.
Within 60 days of implementing that portal, 68 requests were handled entirely by automation. Manual admin work by the eight-person commercial legal team fell by 16 hours each month, and further refinement of the system has led Rubrik to estimate it could save up to 30 hours each month over the next year.
