In-house legal teams across big tech are feeling the pinch as companies put the brakes on their legal hiring sprees in response to economic concerns, but they will still need attorneys with specialized skills to see them through the tough regulatory road ahead.

“The tech industry experienced unprecedented growth over the last couple of years, which is the reason for the incredible volume of hiring,” said Lina Guo, a managing director for Major, Lindsey & Africa’s in-house counsel recruiting team in San Francisco. “The current layoffs in the industry have been more of a market correction given the hiring frenzy over the last couple of years.”
