Two more companies have jumped aboard the current trend of promoting legal leaders to broader business roles. Real estate company Chimera Investment and metallurgical company SunCoke have both promoted their top lawyers to CEO and president, respectively.

Phillip Kardis, who has served as chief legal officer for Chimera Investment since 2015, was named CEO of the company on Monday, while general counsel. He succeeds Mohit Marria, who stepped down from the CEO position on Monday.
