The city of Cleveland filed suit on Tuesday against the automakers in California federal court, alleging negligence and public nuisance arising from 475 thefts of the automakers’ cars in December alone—65% of total vehicle thefts in the city.

Cleveland’s 45-page lawsuit is also replete with images of crashed Hyundai and Kia cars that were stolen, with some that even plowed through buildings. The city seeks unspecified actual and compensatory damages.
