The layoff spree continues in tech, with workflow-software maker Formstack reportedly chopping more than 100 employees this week. Crunchbase tallies that more than 141,000 workers at U.S.-based tech companies have lost their jobs in mass cuts in 2023.

The tech industry’s resizing is painful for employees, of course. But the tech companies themselves also could pay a steep price if they’ve handled the process in ham-handed fashion, recruiters and other observers say.
