Amid growing fervor around generative artificial intelligence and a limited supply of talent well-versed in the technology, legal and tech industry professionals recommend avoiding any rash decision-making until a formal business strategy around AI is implemented and stress-tested.

David Wang, chief innovation officer at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati’s Palo Alto, California, office, is among those advocating caution. While AI tool capabilities have been developing and improving for some time, the November 2022 release of ChatGPT went viral and stirred panic over whether robots would take everyone’s jobs.
