Slurs, graffiti, nooses left on desks and even death threats were among the abuses suffered by Black employees at Tesla’s 22,000-worker Fremont, California, factory, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission alleged in a lawsuit filed Thursday.

“The allegations in this case are disturbing,” EEOC San Francisco District Office Regional Attorney Roberta Steele said. “No worker should have to endure racial harassment and retaliation to earn a living six decades after the enactment of Title VII.”
