Locus Robotics Corp., a maker of autonomous robots used in warehouses that's considering an initial public offering, has hired tech industry veteran Joel Collins as its first chief legal officer.
Collins joins the Wilmington, Massachusetts-based company after serving two and a half years as chief legal officer of Benefitfocus, a developer of benefits-administration software. His tenure at the Charleston, South Carolina-based public company culminated early this year with Benefitfocus' $570 million sale to retirement services giant Voya.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays.
