Locus Robotics Corp., a maker of autonomous robots used in warehouses that’s considering an initial public offering, has hired tech industry veteran Joel Collins as its first chief legal officer.

Collins joins the Wilmington, Massachusetts-based company after serving two and a half years as chief legal officer of Benefitfocus, a developer of benefits-administration software. His tenure at the Charleston, South Carolina-based public company culminated early this year with Benefitfocus’ $570 million sale to retirement services giant Voya.
