Avantax legal chief Tabitha Bailey will receive a golden parachute worth $1.9 million for giving up her post following the close of the wealth management firm's merger with Cetera Holdings.

Bailey was promoted to chief legal officer in January, after Ann Bruder resigned following Avantax's sale of its TaxAct software business and subsequent rebranding from Blucora that shifted the company's focus from taxes to wealth management.

Bailey had previously been its vice president of legal affairs and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission counsel, a role she'd held since 2020. She earned a base salary of $350,000 in 2023, according to an employment agreement she signed in January.
