U.S. antitrust regulators reviewing proposed mergers and allegedly anticompetitive activities have in recent years focused their attention on the potential negative effects on workers and consumers, an approach antitrust experts say Vice President Kamala Harris would likely continue if she wins the presidency.

Harris served as attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017, one of the leading states in antitrust enforcement. She was then elected to the U.S. Senate and served from 2017 to January 2021 when her term as vice president began.
