Securities and Exchange Commission enforcement chief Gurbir S. Grewal will depart Oct. 11, wrapping up an eventful three years with the agency marked by aggressive enforcement actions against cryptocurrency companies and traditional financial services firms.
Under Grewal, the agency has fined dozens of Wall Street firms billions of dollars over their failure to save employees' electronic communications thorough messaging apps outside of companies' oversight, such as WhatsApp and WeChat.
