Tim Phillips, a veteran of nonprofits who spent 18 years at the American Cancer Society, the final 12 as legal chief, is joining Habitat for Humanity International as chief legal officer.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Virginia School of Law, Phillips has 27 years of legal and risk management experience. Outside of his day jobs, for two decades he's been general counsel of the Navy SEAL Foundation, which has more than $150 million in assets and provides support and services to Navy Seals and other special Navy units.
