Even as in-house legal teams recognize artificial intelligence as a critical tool for business efficiency, more than half lack a clear strategy for harnessing the technology, according to the Legal Disruptors 2025 Report from Summize, a maker of AI contract review software.

The report, which is based on survey responses from more than 250 in-house legal professionals in the United States, found that 89% of companies use AI tools, but 53% have no formal AI mandate in place. Without structured guidance, many legal teams risk falling behind or unintentionally exposing their companies to security and compliance risks, according to the study.
