State Supreme Court Justice Sabrina Kraus awarded the office of Attorney General Letitia James a $43,500 judgment, upped the VDARE Foundation's daily penalty to $1,000, and ordered VDARE to produce all unredacted documents within seven days.

The unusual shuffle comes as the company retrenches, cutting costs as its broadband business sees slowing growth and stiffening competition.

Judge James Donato said halting enforcement of his order until the 9th Circuit rules on Google's appeal would not be in the public interest. "A much better argument could be made that the public's interest is best served by opening up the market to competition," he said.

"Sometimes, I find that men are very focused on, 'What is the win, and how do I win?' And I think women are focused on, 'How do I win, but how do I get there in a different way?'" said Deborah Solmor, general counsel of Gateway Foundation.

The firm is following in the footsteps of Milbank and Weil, which have pursued similar tie-ups with top business schools.
