Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart, Oliver & Hedges tapped 30-year IP veterans Henry Koda (left) and William Androlia (below), co-founders of three-lawyer IP specialty firm Koda & Androlia in Los Angeles, to help launch the firm?s Asia practice in Japan. The 375-lawyer Quinn is currently representing big-name Japanese firms, including Sony Corp. and Seiko Epson Corp. in intellectual property litigation in the U.S.

It hopes to expand its Asian client base by opening its first overseas office in Tokyo. ?The office will enable us to better serve our Japanese clients in litigation matters and raise our profile in the Japanese legal and business community,? says Claude Stern, head of the firm?s IP litigation practice. Koda and Androlia have been representing Japanese companies in trademark prosecution and IP litigation counseling.
