The Democrats are well ahead in the contest for nonpresidential contributions from Fortune 100 legal chiefs, according to a Corporate Counsel review of Federal Election Commission data as posted by the Center for Responsive Politics. As of July 31, these elite legal chiefs had given a total of $232,475 to Democratic national and state committees, PACs, and congressional candidates, and $167,300 to Republicans.

While the GOP is behind in total nonpresidential donations, it’s received some of the biggest individual contributions. The Republican National Committee took in $26,200 from J. Barclay Collins II of Hess Corporation, and William Barr of Verizon Communications, Inc., gave $25,000 to the National Republican Congressional Committee.
