It pays to keep score.

At least it does at DuPont, where the legal department launched an initiative five years ago to closely track its recoveries — matters in which the company successfully brought in cash or other assets as the result of a dispute. The company announced last week that its Legal Recoveries Initiative has generated nearly $1.2 billion in recoveries since it started in 2004. That’s well above the stated goal of capturing $100 million a year.
