Regulatory actions against faltering banks spiked by 49% in the second quarter of 2009 compared with the first quarter, according to new MortgageDaily.com research.

MortgageDaily.com tallied 263 regulatory actions in the second quarter compared with 177 in the first quarter. The online publication tracks litigation and regulatory actions in the mortgage and banking industries.
