After joining The Phoenix Companies, Inc.’s legal department almost two decades ago, John Mulrain has finally made it to the top at the insurance company. He assumed his new position as senior vice president, general counsel, and secretary at the end of June.
In his prior role as Phoenix’s vice president and counsel, Mulrain focused on the Hartford-based company’s investments and portfolio management. He replaces Tracy Rich, who is leaving to become executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary at The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America. Mulrain now oversees all of the legal activities at Phoenix. He reports directly to James Wehr, the insurance giant’s president and CEO.
