Well, it’s been some year, hasn’t it? Some of what’s happened seems like a plot for some dystopian future fantasy. We’ve seen the bankruptcies of two pillars of American industry—one rescued (one hopes) by an Italian automaker, no less—and massive bailouts of financial institutions deemed too big to fail. And don’t forget Gourmet magazine folding.
That last item may sound trivial compared to the rest, but it’s symbolic of the rapid and sometimes unsettling changes we’ve had to deal with at Corporate Counsel, both personally and as journalists. We’ve “transitioned,” as they say, to digital publishing, and we’ve chronicled and seen up close the fallout from last autumn’s financial meltdown.
