When Bank of America Corporation‘s former general counsel Timothy Mayopoulos testified before Congress last fall, he said he was shocked by his abrupt firing in December 2008, shortly after shareholders approved the bank’s merger with Merrill Lynch & Co., Inc.

Now, newly released testimony in the Securities and Exchange Commission‘s case against the bank offers revealing details about just how shaken Mayopoulos was by this move. Furthermore, when Mayopoulos reached out to two of the bank’s executives for help finding a new job, he was snubbed by one and got a cool reaction from the other.
