As their trial date neared, two Georgia firms have reached a settlement with Ford Motor Co. over a lawsuit in Cobb County State Court for a girl who was paralyzed after a 2006 crash in which she was wearing a lap-only rear seat belt.
The amount of the settlement is confidential, according to the attorney who negotiated it, E. Michael Moran of Law & Moran in Atlanta. He filed the suit along with his law partner, Peter A. Law, and co-counsel Peter J. Daughtery and Jason L. Crawford of Columbus, Ga.-based Daughtery, Crawford, Fuller & Brown. The case is Banks v. Ford, No. 08A-14464-3. Banks is conservator for the injured child, Karina Lozano of Gainesville, Ga., who was 6 years old at the time of the crash.
