President Obama Thursday named Edward Stanton III, senior counsel for litigation at FedEx Corp., as one of seven nominees for U.S. attorney. He was the only in-house attorney chosen.

Stanton, of Memphis, was nominated for the Western District of Tennessee. He ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2006. He has been with FedEx since 2002.
