The filling of vacancies at the National Labor Relations Board means that a lot of pending cases may finally be heard, but it’s safe to say that not all employers are going to be happy with the decisions reached by the now Democrat-dominated panel.
On March 27 President Barack Obama made two recess appointments to the NLRB—longtime labor attorneys Craig Becker and Mark Pearce. The board, which has operated with only two members since 2008, will finally get a crack at some 200-plus backlogged cases on which chair Wilma Liebman, a Democratic appointee, and Peter Schaumber, a Republican appointee, could not agree.
