The Pacific-10 Conference wants to reenergize and reinvent itself with new media deals and sponsorships, and it’s hired a new top lawyer from the National Football League to help it make that happen. The college sports conference has lured Woodie Dixon, Jr . , away from the Kansas City Chiefs to be its new general counsel and vice president of business affairs.

Dixon is responsible for all of the conference’s legal and business affairs, and shares leadership responsibilities for football operations. He’s based at the conference’s headquarters in Walnut Creek, California, and reports directly to commissioner Larry Scott. He started his new job in April.
