In-house lawyers say the Supreme Court has made it harder for them to do their job by narrowing work-product protections for lawyers.

On Monday, the court decided not to hear the case, Textron v. United States (pdf). Instead, they let stand a federal appeals court ruling that allowed the Internal Revenue Service to access documents created by a defense-contracting firm, which included a legal analysis of possible tax liabilities.
