When you’re dealing with power, it always pays to have a backup plan. This philosophy came in handy for American Electric Power Company, Inc., in April, when its general counsel, secretary, and chief compliance officer, John Keane, announced his retirement. Without missing a beat—or losing power—the company plugged deputy general counsel D. Michael Miller into the position. His appointment is effective July 1.
