MetLife, Inc. , did not have to look far for a new top lawyer with experience in international business. The New York–based insurance and financial services company has promoted veteran in-house attorney Nicholas Latrenta to be its new general counsel.
Latrenta, 58, replaces James Lipscomb, who retired at the end of April after almost 38 years with the company. Most recently, Latrenta had been MetLife’s senior chief counsel, overseeing legal matters for its U.S. and international businesses since 2007. But he’s been with the company for 40 years, working in both the legal department and various business divisions.
